I have to write a paper for British lit class about the british romantics. Problem is that he left it so open ended that I'm having a problem coming up wit something. I have to pick something small because I'm limited to 7 pages, which threw out my original plan of comparing British Romantics to American Transcendentalists. So if anyone has any ideas for what my thesis could be I'd be very thankful!

Yeah, drop British Lit.
Why can't you do Romantics vs Transcendentalists in 7 pages? You can definitely do that.

One of my Profs would always say, "When writing about Literature, don't write about Literature." His favorite paper was about Hamlet and Superman. I have no idea if that is helpful. But maybe take an unrelated concept and weave it into American Transcendentalism... or something.

The British Romantics were neither British nor Romantic. Discuss.

Pick one and discuss how their personal life influenced their writing. That's a super cheap way to get through papers like that. Half of it is just regurgitating their biography, and half of it is discussing their broad themes. I don't remember how many versions of that paper I wrote in HS and college.

The death of Romaticism as the end of the British Empire. You're welcome.

write about british romantics and the use of puns and slang for double meanings.
this is probably not helpful, but puns in literature ear my favorite topic, and you should write about them

So he should turn it into a paper about British sports cars?

"How British Romantics influenced the development of the classical british roadsters and their successor in mind: the mazda miata."

And the sequel, "The Renaissance of Romantic British Sports Cars: The Jaguar F Type."

"Explaining the existence of the Shelby Cobra by comparing British Romantics to American Transcendentalists"
That one's a bit far fetched though...

"Explaining the Existence of the Dodge Viper by Spiritually Reviving the Cobra, a British Romantic AC Ace Imagined By American Transcendentalist Carrol Shelby" is even farther fetched.
